The Story

The Walper Hotel, founded in 1893, once hosted Queen Victoria. While maintaining a nod to its historical roots, the hotel has since been updated to offer the upscale finishes and boutique feel that modern travellers are looking for. Following required closures due to COVID-19 in June 2020, The Walper Hotel saw potential for operational improvements and approached Opal Hospitality.

The Vision

Opal Hospitality is passionate about creating operationally efficient boutique hotel experiences. When we began working with The Walper Hotel, we envisioned elevating the brand through a reimagined food and beverage program, improved hotel services, and the addition of casual-luxury elements throughout.

What Opal Executed

What began as a consultancy relationship, grew to management of The Walper Hotel by Opal Hospitality in December 2020. Opal Hospitality worked collaboratively with the hotel's leadership improving the hotel’s financial and operational efficiencies and facilitating its very successful transition to Hyatt's Joie de Vivre collection of boutique hotels in the spring of 2021. Additionally, The Walper Hotel’s brand was strengthened through increased market presence and an elevated guest experience.
