The Story

The Insignia Hotel once operated as the historic Drawbridge Inn which opened its doors in 1963. The Drawbridge Inn underwent significant renovations and opened its doors as The Insignia Hotel in September 2019. When the owner of The Insignia Hotel sought opportunities to elevate the hotel’s brand and improve operational efficiencies in July 2020, it engaged Opal Hospitality’s consultancy services, and a strong connection and mutual understanding was developed.

The Vision

Incorporating the unique identity of an asset and its surrounding community is always a key priority for Opal Hospitality. In addition to improving operational efficiencies, Opal Hospitality envisioned bringing the hotel’s historical significance in Sarnia to life through brand development.

What Opal Executed

Opal Hospitality began with a thorough assessment of The Insignia Hotel's key opportunities in the surrounding market. Based on this, Opal Hospitality recommended the hotel join the Marriott Tribute collection and worked with the hotel team converting in April 2021. The Insignia is a city favourite providing superior customer service experiences, leading the market in RevPAR.
