The Story

When Opal Hospitality first learned of The Canvas Moncton site, it was undergoing development. When we discovered that the developers were looking for a partner in August 2018, Opal Hospitality seized the opportunity.

The Vision

Opal Hospitality saw the full potential of the Canvas Moncton site based on location and the surrounding market. We worked with our partners to envision an engaging arts hotel space with Opal Hospitality’s signature lifestyle touch. We saw potential to develop a unique brand that would turn the hotel into an inviting community hub, infused with vibrant elements inspired by the surrounding community and natural landscape of Moncton and New Brunswick.

What Opal Executed

Once Opal Hospitality became a part of the hotel’s development and asset repositioning, we reduced costs, managed the full renovation and created the Canvas brand specifically for this hotel. The finished product was revealed in November 2019 as the first hotel in the Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Canada. Spaces include a lobby that doubles as a coffee bar by day and bar by night, unique meeting spaces, a rooftop bar and patio, and a restaurant and brewery.
